Following the appearance of the Icon Sheene at Luxury Garage at Vicenza, Italy and at Motorcycle Live at the NEC we have literally been inundated with questions about the bike. There have been requests for more information on the Sheene family involvement, about technical developments, about how it has evolved in the last 12 months and questions like Where can we see it next?, How do you achieve the massive power? and How rideable is it?
Well, this blog has been set up for all of you genuine bike fans, especially Barry Sheene fans, for you to have your say, ask questions and generally find out what goes on behind the scenes at Icon Motorcycles and keep up to date with news and developments.
Simply sign on with your details and start blogging right away. We’d love to hear from you.

Guys, firstly thanks for the chance to ask a question , at the Bike show the bike for me was the star of the show , but tell me why the turbo and exhaust were in a strange , but cool looking finish? , it didnt look stainless or aluminium , what is it? Cheers Marky /P.S Im also running a Busa with a garret turbo
Dear Marky,
Thanks for your question.
The exhaust is treated with a ceramic coating but has been specially formulated for use by F1 racing cars.
About 70% of the current F1 teams are using this method.
It reduces latent heat by approx. 35% and obviously this makes the engine run cooler and which is critical with a turbo charged engine.
Any more questions – we’ll be pleased to answer.
Best regards,
The Icon Technical Team
Hi saw the bike at the show… must admit I was expecting not to like it but thought it looked very good in the flesh.
I was arguing with a few mates about the bike who thought it wasnt very good looking I told them it was totaly diffrernt to the propotype stuff in MCN last year.
Anyway to cut to the chase is the bike at anymore shows this year as I go to a few with my friends and I think we can settle it once and for all if they see it themselves.
Also I spoke to a Icon people at the show and they were really imformative and obviously passionate about the project so keep up the good work… with Triumph, Norton and now Icon British biking is back on the up!!
Tim,
Thanks for your question. The Icon Sheene is in Dubai 10th-12th of Feb, then the Dutch Motorbike show 24h-27th
of Feb. We are expecting to be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed , however this is by invitation only from Lord March
and they will be notifying Icon during the end of Feb.If we are at Goodwood again, then its hoped Freddie Sheene will be
able to come over from Australia. There are other shows and events we are being asked to attend , but for now this is all we
are able to commit to. Hope to see you at one of the events !
Best wishes The Icon Team
Hi Andrew ,
The choice of colour for the bike look’s great is it just black , if so , how many coat’s of laquar to get that high gloss finish , also is it protected from scratch mark’s etc with a polish or wax top coat.
Phil,
Thanks for your question ,please wait for the new updated picture Phil! our design department has spent 3 months developing an
amazing black cherry chrome ,when the bikes back from Dubai W /C 7.-2.2011 , we are having another photo shoot so keep
checking the web site. The finish of the paint is of the highest and durable standard using world leading materials ,all applied
by hand , so the paintwoprk will resist most scratches.
Best wishes The Icon Team
Have they all been sold??
Craig,
Hi , no they have not been all sold, they are only now becoming available in Feb 2011, Freddie Sheene wanted a lot
more design changes last year from the original prototype that ran at Goodwood , Brands hatch ,the Bike show etc etc, so
if you check our web site from today, you can see the changes we have made, the only further update is the
upgraded black finish which will be a unique black chrome under a black tinted laquer as being debuted this week in Dubai
at the Gulf bike week.
The pictures for this final specicfication will be on the web site during february.
Best wishes The Icon Team
